Position: Shamrock Store

Description: Volunteers for the Shamrock Store will be inside the Virginia Beach Convention Center to assist with organizing, selling, and ensuring security for Shamrock merchandise, and breaking down and packing up the store.

Time Commitment: Maximum of 4.5 hour shifts

Check In Location: Sports & Fitness Expo; Virginia Beach Convention Center

What to Wear: Volunteers will receive a volunteer t-shirt and we encourage you to wear comfortable shoes.

Position: Course Marshals

Description: Course Marshals are assigned to intersections and other critical points to prevent vehicle and pedestrian encroachment on the course during the race. Course Marshals must be at least 18 years old. As part of their assignment, Course Marshals are encouraged to cheer on participants and have fun!

Time Commitment: Maximum of 4.5 hours on Saturday; Maximum of 9 hours on Sunday

Check In Location: 19th Street and Birdneck Road; Law Enforcement Training Academy

What to Wear: Course Marshals are outside for their entire shift and should dress for the existing and forecasted weather. Volunteers will be given long-sleeve volunteer t-shirts. We encourage you to wear comfortable shoes.

Position: Dry Bag

Description: Volunteers are assigned to trucks near the start where participants drop off bags which contain their post-race clothing. Volunteers collect these bags, and after the trucks are driven to the finish area, volunteers re-distribute bags to the participants. **Sunday position only

Time Commitment: Maximum of 9 hour shift

Check In Location: 30th and Boardwalk; Hampton Inn Oceanfront North

What to Wear: Dry Bag volunteers are outside for their entire shift and should dress for the existing and forecasted weather. Volunteers will be given volunteer t-shirts and we encourage you to wear comfortable shoes.

Position: Water Stops

Description: Volunteers for water stops set up tables and cups of fluid before the race, pass out that fluid during the race, then break down and clean up the water stop after the race. Water stop volunteers are also encouraged to cheer on participants as they pass by!

Time Commitment: Maximum of 4 hours on Saturday; Maximum of 9 hours on Sunday (as the last runner passes your station, you may begin cleaning up)

What to Wear: Water stop volunteers are outside for their entire shift and should dress for the exisiting and forecasted weather. Volunteers will be given volunteer t-shirts and we encourage you to wear comfortable shoes.

Position: Cheer Groups

Description: Cheer groups of 20 or more people are assigned to specific locations on the half and full marathon courses where access by spectators is difficult, or where participants typically need an uplifting boost. Each cheer station has a specific theme, and cheer group members are encouraged to dress up and decorate their station to match that theme.

Time Committment: Maximum of 8 hours on Sunday

Check In Location: Cheer group participants report directly to their assigned station
