Come celebrate the “Luck of the Irish” as 30,000 runners from all 50 states and several other countries will lace up their sneakers, adorn themselves in green and take to the streets of Virginia Beach, Virginia on March 20-22, 2015. The annual Yuengling Shamrock Marathon Weekend, first held in 1973, has expanded to become a tradition for many — young and old, residents and non-residents, athletes and spectators. The three-day event features a Sports and Fitness Expo, races and challenges to accommodate all ages and skill levels ad a huge finish line celebration on the beach.

Runners enjoy flat, fast and scenic courses along the beautiful oceanfront and recover at a huge finish line celebration that features live entertainment, ice-cold Yuengling beer and much more.  With five events, there is a distance for everyone to choose from: the Yuengling Shamrock Marathon, Anthem Shamrock Half Marathon, TowneBank Shamrock 8K, Operation Smile Shamrock Final Mile and the Leprechaun Dash.

Runners who are looking for more of a challenge can participate in one of the three special challenges that the weekend offers.  All challenge participants receive an additional challenger medal. Click here for details.
The Anthem Half Marathon was voted one of the best half marathons in the country by Runners World Magazine and sells out every year.  Register today so you don't miss out!!

New Guardian Bib Policy

As a means of ensuring the Operation Smile Shamrock Final Mile is a true children’s event and to prevent unsafe adult overcrowding during the race, we are restricting the number of adults who will be allowed in the start corrals and on the course.  Only school adult volunteers, our Run Heroes, will be allowed to run with the children.  We realize that many parents have legitimate reasons to be with their children, however, and we do not want any child to miss out on the opportunity.  For this reason, we have created a Guardian Bib corral in which all parents who wish to accompany their children will be assigned.  This corral will be at the end of the student corrals and all adults in this corral must have been issued a guardian bib.  The guardian bib is free, and you can sign up for one as part of the registration process.  Parents who have already signed up may change their guardian bib status here.

For questions on the guardian bib program, please contact the J&A Racing Youth Programs Director, Bob Schniedwind, at 757-412-1056, or bob@jandaracing.com.

The New King Neptune Challenge

Legend has it that Neptune, the Roman god was King of the Sea. Do you have what it takes to become King of the Virginia Beach Oceanfront this year? Challenge yourself to our brand new King Neptune Challenge. King Neptune Challenge participants will run the TowneBank Shamrock 8k on Saturday, March 21st, and then both the Anthem Half Marathon and the Yuengling Shamrock Marathon on Sunday, March 22nd. All King Neptune Challengers will receive a total of six medals during the Yuengling Shamrock Marathon Weekend! Challenge participants must be able to finish the half marathon (which starts at 7AM) and transition to the full marathon start by 8:50am. This means that you MUST run less than a 1:50 half to get to the marathon start in time, no exceptions!!
